  • Liz Taylor's First Wedding Gown on Sale

    A wedding dress worn by Elizabeth Taylor for her first wedding was an "oyster silk satin wedding dress designed by M.G.M. chief costume designer Helen Rose," according to Christie's. It was estimated to be worth £30,000 to £50,000 or $45,276 to $75,315. It has a "fine silk gauze off-the-shoulder illusion neckline."

  • Liz Taylor's First Wedding Gown Sold

    Elizabeth Taylor and Conrad Hilton Jr., known as Nicky, pause on the steps of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills, Calif., after her first wedding ceremony, May 6, 1950. The gown was auctioned for $187,931 by Christie's in London on June 26. Taylor, who died on March 23, 2011, was married eight times.

    The wig Elizabeth Taylor wore in the 1963 film Cleopatra sold to an anonymous bidder for $20,315 through Heritage Auctions in Dallas on Dec. 13, 2011 ahead of Christie's four-day auction in New York. The wig, made of real human hair, is partially damaged due to age, Reuters reported. "Some of the braids need to be repaired," according to the company's website.

  • Elizabeth Taylor Jewelry Auction

    Christie's sold "La Peregrina," a legendary pearl 16th century-style necklace with ruby and diamond designed by Elizabeth Taylor with Al Durante of Cartier in 1969. The necklace was estimated to be worth $2 to $3 million and sold for $11.8 million in Dec. 2011. Taylor's estate received proceeds from the auction and a portion was donated to the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.
