How retailing will stay the same

— -- Blake Nordstrom says these three things won't change when it comes to retailing in 30 years:

The value of customer service. Being able to deliver value to the customer on the customer's terms will remain a cornerstone of retail. Retail is about the "customer feeling valued and respected," Nordstrom says.

Transparency and communication. The Internet and social media have given customers more information than ever and have forced merchants to adapt or die when it comes to interacting with customers online. The need for retailers to deliver on information and effectively communicate with customers will continue to be in demand.

Pace of change. The rate at which retail has undergone change in recent years will only continue in the next three decades, Nordstrom says.
