— -- Sarah Silverman had a big night at the 2014 Emmy Awards.

The actress, 43, looked stunning on the red carpet to start the night, but when Giuliana Rancic of E! took a peek inside her purse, she found what looked like a smoking device.

"That is my pot," she told Rancic, explaining it was a liquid form of marijuana.

Silverman went on to win an Emmy during the award show for her HBO special "Sarah Silverman: We Are Miracles."

In her speech, Silverman pronounced her love in the sweetest way during her acceptance speech, thanking "Mr. Fancy Pants Sheen," her boyfriend Michael Sheen.

Backstage at the Emmys, Silverman explained her speech, where she also said, "We're just all made of molecules and we're hurtling through space right now" and her "pot," and how what she said at the podium was in no way affected by any substance.

"I wasn't stoned. I had pot for later in my purse," she said. "It's legal and I don't drink. I like to have a puff as a treat at appropriate times."

Marijuana is legal in California for medicinal purposes, but Silverman did not say whether she has a prescription.
