— -- Alex Pettyfer and Channing Tatum may have played on-screen buddies in the film "Magic Mike," but it seems that the two actors do not have a close relationship in real life.

Pettyfer addressed his rocky relationship with Tatum yesterday during an interview with Bret Easton Ellis for the podcast, B.E.E.,

"It's true," Pettyfer said about the rumors of a sour relationship between the two "Magic Mike" co-stars. "Channing Tatum does not like me, and for many reasons-- many being my own fault."

Pettyfer revealed that his "bad boy" reputation in Hollywood caused Tatum to be hesitant to cast Pettyfer in the film before filming even started, and said that it took the convincing of director Steven Soderbergh for Pettyfer to land the role of Adam in the movie.

"[Tatum] was not sold on me being a part of this film because he looked upon me as being a risk," Pettyfer said.

The 25-year-old actor also explained that while filming, his attempts to stay out of trouble actually caused more issues with his image, because he came across as stuck-up to the cast and the crew.

"I didn't speak on the movie [set]," Pettyfer said. "I was scared to speak. I actually did my work and I sat in the corner and listened to music because I had been told that anything I do is wrong by my reps. I was very insecure as a human being and that also gave me a bad rep because they said, 'Oh Alex thinks he's f---ing better than everyone else because he doesn't speak to anyone,' and that's not true. I was just genuinely nervous and scared to be myself."

Pettyfer then explained in detail how he ended up owing Tatum's friend money for a rent that he hadn't yet paid, and said that Tatum sent a "negative e-mail," to Pettyfer that only strained their relationship further. When the "Magic Mike" cast returned to set for re-shoots, Pettyfer said that Tatum "had already told everyone he didn't like me, and what Channing says goes, because he's a movie star."

Despite all of the drama surrounding them, Pettyfer called Tatum an "incredible influence," and admitted that he doesn't regret his experience filming "Magic Mike" at all.

"Channing was actually an incredible influence on me because after this whole situation happened – this was kind of the end of my immaturity and all my experiences put into one," Pettyfer said. "It was an incredible experience making Magic Mike. I wouldn't replace it for anything."
