Andrew Rannells Reveals Why He'll Be Naked Again This Season on 'Girls'

Andrew Rannells considers being naked on "Girls" a "real badge of honor."

The Tony Award nominee, 35, joked that he is always happy to revisit a certain prop needed for scenes in the buff and was happy to bring that back for season 3, which premieres tonight.

"I think the technical term is a c**k sock," he told ABC News. "I did get to film a little skinny dipping scene this season, so I was happy to revisit that."

Rannells, who plays Elijah, Len Dunham's character Hannah's ex, on the show, said that this season was special to him because he gets to work with the whole cast. His character might also have a bit of a love interest this go-round.

"We do get to see a little bit of that, which was a lot of fun," he said of having a significant other.

But for Rannells and tonight's premiere, he's just a fan like the rest of us.

"I don't come into the season until about midway through, which is crazy because I don't know how it starts!" he said. "I'm equally excited to see these first few episodes, because I don't really know what happens to the girls. I made a point not to ask too many questions."

He continued, "I wanted to be surprised."

Rannells spoke to ABC as part of the National YoungArts Foundation's annual YoungArts Week, where he was honored this weekend as an alumnist of the program.

Last week, finalists got to participate in a weeklong program in Miami, something Rannells remembers doing himself as a senior in high school.

"I came from Nebraska, and to go down to Miami," he said, "that was the first time I really felt like I could do this as a career. It was a life-changing, no bulls**t experience!"
