— -- We have our first villain of "The Bachelorette" season.

It's Chad, and he rubbed plenty of his fellow bachelors the wrong way on Monday night's episode. It culminated with a heated confrontation with Alex, to whom Chad threatened, "You're gonna lose your damn teeth." Pretty bold move from Chad, considering Alex is a U.S. Marine.

Chad was still on the offensive in the rose ceremony, when Alex received a rose from the "Bachelorette," JoJo Fletcher. Chad commented to the cameras, "She's going to keep Alex around because she doesn't want America to think she hates short people." Tells us how you really feel, Chad!

The episode began with a bang -- literally. A limo pulled up to the mansion and burst into flames. Shortly afterward, a fire truck showed up with JoJo inside.

It marked the start of a group date, in which 10 of the men were put through drills at a firefighting training facility. They all competed for the opportunity to spend alone time with JoJo.

Wells struggled with the drills and had to take a break. Still, he was selected for the final challenge, along with Luke and Grant: Save JoJo from a burning tower. Grant pulled off the victory, which is no surprise since he's a firefighter when he's not a contestant on a dating show.

Wells was the real winner of the date -- JoJo awarded him the group date rose because, she explained, he "just stood out to me in a way we can all appreciate."

Derek, a commercial banker, scored the first one-on-one date of the season. It was a choose-your-own-adventure-type outing that whisked Derek and JoJo away to San Francisco and a picnic near the Golden Gate Bridge. Later on in the date, Derek confessed that he has a hard time opening up after being cheated on in the past. He received a rose from JoJo.

On the second group date, six men visited ESPN's SportsNation program and participated in silly challenges -- fake proposals, press conferences, and so on. At one point Chad complained that JoJo was "naggy." Yikes. He proceeded to needle his fellow bachelors by arguing that none of them could possibly love JoJo yet, because they've only known her for a short time.

JoJo got to see a different side of Chad when he revealed to her that his mother passed away six months earlier. They shared their first kiss moments later.

James Taylor got the rose on this group date.

Chad was the center of attention at the cocktail party, and not in a good way. He kept close to JoJo -- a little too close in the eyes of some of the other bachelors, who felt he was monopolizing her time. The argument with Alex ensued.

Chad was presented the final rose at the rose ceremony. Three men were eliminated, including the Bachelor "superfan," James S.

"The Bachelorette" is back next week with not one, but two new episodes, airing Monday and Tuesday night on ABC.
