Ben Mendelsohn on Playing 'Rogue One' Villain: 'Bad Guys Have More Fun'

— -- For Ben Mendelsohn, playing a villain on-screen in the new Star Wars film was a career highlight.

"They're pretty fun," the actor said today on 'GMA.' "Bad guys have more fun."

Mendelsohn stars as the evil Orson Krennic in "Rogue One." His character is partly responsible for the Death Star project and is one of the leaders of the Imperial Forces.

"I think he's very misunderstood," Mendelsohn joked. "Look, some planets just need to be brought into line."

When asked what it's like being a part of the "Star Wars" experience, Mendelsohn said "it's awesome."

"It's a great honor," he added. "[I]'m a fanboy first. I saw the original when it came out. So for me, it's like a dream come true."

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" hits theaters Dec. 16.
