Dec. 17, 2013 — -- Christina Applegate admits that when filming "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" earlier this year, it was extremely hard to be away from her 2-year-old daughter, Sadie Grace.

"She would come to Atlanta and everything and hang out with me," the actress told ABC News at the film's NYC premiere. "But there was one time I was away from her for nine days and that was brutal."

Sadie will turn 3 in January and, even now, being away from her is hard. So much so that Applegate, 42, decided to take a year off after filming for the second "Anchorman" wrapped.

"[Now] I'm just a stay-at-home mom, that's it," she said. "That's what I like doing."

Her time off at home with her daughter will go on at least until early next year, she added.

Even leaving home is hard for Applegate when Sadie won't stop being so darn cute. The former "Married With Children" star who's married to musician Martyn LeNoble explained what happened as she tried to head to her film's premiere Sunday night.

"It's hard saying goodbye to her," she told ABC News Radio's David Blaustein. "Because I kept saying, 'Say goodbye to me' and she kept going, 'Mommy your dress is so sparkly, it's so beautiful. It is so sparkly!' But I was like, 'I love you, just give me a hug.'"

But all Sadie could focus on was her mom's dress.

"'But Mamma no, this is so sparkly, do you see them how sparkly this dress is and how beautiful it is?' And I'm like, 'Yes Sadie I see, just give me a hug … hold me, just hold me,'" she continued.

But Applegate will eventually get back to acting and said, "I want to show [Sadie] that women can be out there working and being powerful as well."
