A lot has been said about why Bruce Jenner's look has changed so dramatically, but one thing is certain: The Olympian-turned-reality TV star looks different than he did when he rose to fame in the '70s. "He totally has this 'I may be an old man, but I'm cool and young too' syndrome and no one can tell him otherwise," a source told People magazine. "People in the family have brought up his hair or his clothes, whatever it is and how absurd they think it is, but Bruce doesn't care, nor does he want to listen to any kind of criticism. ... He thinks he looks great and cool and that's that." Here's a look back on how his look has evolved.
In the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, Jenner, then 26 years old, famously won the gold medal in the decathlon, setting a new world record. As a result, Jenner, who was at the time married to Chrystie Crownover, was honored with many awards, including the James E. Sullivan Award as the top amateur athlete in the United States and the Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year in 1976.
By 1987, Jenner had been divorced twice and had four children. He also told Access Hollywood that in 1984, he'd undergone a nose job and a partial face lift. "I had just gone through my second divorce, lost a lot of money. I was in a little dinky house," he said. "[I] was just going through a bad time."
In 1991, Jenner married Kris Jenner after just five months of dating. In 1995, they welcomed daughter Kendall. Two years later, their second child, Kylie, came along. Kris is also a fan of plastic surgery. She reportedly wrote in her memoir that she's had two breast enhancement surgeries and rhinoplasty. She also had procedures done in 2011, which were documented on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." "I needed a little freshening up for [Kim's] wedding," she said. "Just doing what a girl's gotta do!"
In 2009, Jenner had a second facelift, according to his stepdaughter, Kim Kardashian. "Since he's turning 60 in October, Bruce felt it was time to correct the mistakes made by the previous doctor so he went to a new doctor for a second facelift," she wrote on her blog. "Bruce looks better than ever and he is extremely happy with the result." Then, in 2010, Jenner's stepson, Robert Kardashian, took him to get his ears pierced, which was shown on an episode of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians. "I've always thought about pierced ears. I see a lot of guys have that," Jenner said at the time.
One month after this photo was taken, Bruce and Kris Jenner announced that they were separating. Bruce, who had been living at his own home in Malibu, would continue to do so, while Kris would stay at the couple's house in Calabasas. "Everything in the end of his marriage just became too much for him and his freedom is really liberating," a source told People. "He wanted to grow his hair long, so he did it. He wants to get manicures, so he gets them."
At the beginning of 2014, Jenner, now 64, appeared with a new, ombré hairdo and what may be a smaller Adam's apple, given reports that he underwent a laryngeal shave. A rep for Jenner did not respond to requests for comment about the procedure, though Us Weekly reported that he said, "I just didn't like my trachea."
