'Game of Thrones' Author George R.R. Martin Reveals Downside to His New Fame

— -- "Game of Thrones" author George R.R. Martin is about as famous and revered as any celebrity in Hollywood today.
But Martin told Clevver News that he misses the old days from time to time, especially during big events like Comic-Con.
"It's actually a little scary being a recognized person," he said about being at the event. "I've been coming to Comic-Con since 1987. In those days there were 5,000 people here and the hall was mostly guys with cardboard boxes of old comic books. ... It's different now and I can't walk the floor anymore, which I actually miss."

If Martin were to attempt to walk the floor at the San Diego venue, he would likely be mobbed, so he said he's thinking of wearing a costume in the future so he can stay hidden.
"The scary part is there are people on the floor cosplaying me!" he said.
Not just cosplay, Martin is a "South Park" character now and he admitted he hasn't watched the show yet, but has it recorded. His wife and friends have seen it, though.
"They're debating whether I should watch it or not, but I'll probably watch it eventually," he said. "I do love 'South Park.' I love some of the other episodes that they've done. I'm a sensitive soul, would it be too rough on me? I don't know, we'll see."
"South Park" tends to make fun of celebrity. For example, they changed one aspect of Martin's interests for the episode he's featured on.
"I've been told my character in 'South Park' is obsessed about weenies," he said. "I have to deny this as a scurrilous rumor. I have nothing against weenies, weenies are fine, but I'm not obsessed with weenies. I am definitely on the boobies side of the equation. They picked the wrong equation for me, boobies not weenies."
