— -- Comedians have long tackled race in their stand-up routines, but Kevin Hart has largely stayed away from the topic onstage or off.

In an age when the Black Lives Matter and All Lives Matter debate rages on, Hart explained why he's not more outspoken when it comes to race politics.

"I love my people. I have never not stood by my people and by my race," Hart, 37, told Ebony magazine in its October/November 2016 issue.

"I love representing my race all over the world at the highest level where people have to look and go, 'Hey man, that strong Black man right there is a smart individual," he continued. "'He’s got it together; he’s trying to do some positive things.'"

In fact, Hart is out with his latest stand-up comedy special "Now What?," which hits theaters Oct. 14. In the concert film, the comedian reflects on life now that he's gone Hollywood.

"I spent $13.8 million on it myself," Hart explained. "If you’re going to roll the dice, roll it on yourself."

Betting on himself has paid off for the comedian. Forbes just listed him at number one on its list of highest-paid comedians as Hart earned $87.5 million between June 2015 and June 2016.

Hart admits that at times he's "dead tired," but the father of two continues to work harder.

"There’s a little battery in me that goes, ‘Ah, man. The minute you go to sleep, that guy who’s next, that guy who wants the spot you have, is working," he said.

Hart continued, "I’m not a content guy. Even with all the achievements, it’s not enough because there’s so much more life to live, and there’s so much more to do and accomplish. I think the thing that honestly keeps me going is the fact that it’s out there for the taking."

"I don’t think people really understand that you get out of life what you put into it," he added. "The more blood, sweat and tears you have behind the passion, the more rewards you’ll see behind the work."
