— -- It's been almost a year since Ellen DeGeneres threw Miley Cyrus a surprise bachelorette party last year, replete with male strippers.

And it's been almost a month since Cyrus, 20, and Liam Hemsworth called off their engagement.

So, when the "Wrecking Ball" singer made her return to the "Ellen DeGeneres Show," which airs today, Degeneres was quick to joke about last November's party.

"So the last time you were here, I threw you an engagement party," she told Cyrus. "I want my money back."

"I should've kept one of those dudes' numbers," the singer, sporting overalls and a white top, joked right back. "That would've come in handy now."

The "We Can't Stop" singer added that the attention her breakup has gotten hasn't been too awkward and that "I think people spend more time actually thinking about it than I really do."

Cyrus, who just released her new album "Bangerz" this week, said she really has moved on after the split from the "Hunger Games" star.

"I just believe when a chapter is done you have to close it and start that new one. That's kind of where I am right now," she added. "I felt like, I have so much to be thankful for at this time that my energy hasn't really been focused on that."

Cyrus and Hemsworth announced their split Sept. 16. The announcement comes after months of speculation that there was trouble in the couple's relationship.

Cyrus told DeGeneres that now that she can sit back and listen to the album since its commercial release, and that it is definitely a story of her breakup and growth.

"I really am genuinely happy, finally with myself," she added. "Sometimes it takes you separating yourself from someone else to really be happy with who you are. I've never been able to just be alone and I'm obsessed with being alone."
