— -- Next month, Good Housekeeping magazine will publish its annual list of 25 Awesome Women.

Guest edited by super producer Shonda Rhimes, this year’s list includes a diverse array of women, from those who are making a difference in their communities to famous women who are using their platform to encourage change.

"A lot of women inspire me," Rhimes told Good Housekeeping. "I think most of the people I meet everyday are interesting. I have this theory that everyone has a story."

"The only difference between a woman and an awesome woman is how you define yourself," she added.

Jane Francisco, the editor in chief of Good Housekeeping, appeared live on “Good Morning America" today to discuss how the list was created.

Francisco said a team of people –- including Rhimes –- had the task of selecting a diverse group of women who were mentoring others, fighting for equal rights, working in their communities and tackling tough issues such as gender bias, body image and equal access to education.

The honorees include Jane Chen, a woman whose company created a low-cost infant warmer that helps babies in developing nations survive; Beverly Bond, the woman behind the Black Girls Rock! Awards show; actress Geena Davis, founder of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, and online comedian GloZell Green.

Also on the list is “GMA” news anchor Amy Robach, who is featured on the list for her public fight with breast cancer and her work to raise awareness of the importance of screening.
