Snoop Dogg Weighs in on 2016 Election, Possible 'Straight Outta Compton' Sequel
The rapper joked that he doesn't even know who's running for president.
— -- When it comes to politics, Snoop Dogg would rather drop it like it's hot.
The rapper joked that he doesn't even know who the contenders are when asked about his thoughts on the upcoming election.
"I don't even know who's running. No need, I'm good," Snoop Dogg told ABC News at AOL's NewFront 2016 event. "Politics don't affect me. I mean I like to be politically correct, but at the same time I feel like me having a perspective on who you should vote for and who people should vote for don't matter. People are going to make their minds up regardless."
Snoop Dogg stars in a new documentary "Coach Snoop," which follows his work with his Snoop Youth Football League. The documentary spans nine episodes that will premiere on AOL on May 19.
While the documentary shows a different side to the rapper, Snoop Dogg said he's not interested in putting his life on the big screen in a possible sequel to "Straight Outta Compton." The 2015 Oscar-nominated film portrayed the rise of rap group NWA and even included a scene about Snoop Dogg collaborating with fellow rapper Dr. Dre.
"I'm not really into all that life. I'm Snoop Dogg. It's all about me. When my life is on, it's about what I'm bringing," he said. "That movie -- it's cool, but it's really not about me. ... It's about the star in the movie and, you know, the action hero that he is and the villain that he beats up on the way to the top."
And though he hasn't yet announced a new album, Snoop Dogg hinted that he's making new music.
"I feel like I'm going to make music that's going to show people exactly what I feel hip hop represents to me, because hip hop is an expression," Snoop Dogg said.
"On this joint, I'm expressing myself to continue to make great music to show people I'm here to stay as far as hip hop."
