— -- There was a lot more going on than just the dresses at Monday night's annual Met Gala.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala, or Met Gala, is considered one of the biggest nights in fashion, and stars like Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Madonna and Emma Watson did not disappoint. But there were plenty of other story lines from the evening's event besides who wore what.

Here were five that had us wanting to know more:

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom

Rumors have been swirling around Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom since earlier this year, but the pair have yet to confirm a romantic relationship. They continued to play coy Monday night, arriving separately on the red carpet. But those paying attention may have noticed that Perry and Bloom turned up with matching accessories.

Amidst the numerous charms and gadgets on the singer's custom Prada gown was a Tamagotchi pet. Perry is an admitted fan of the '90s popular toy and may well have loaned one out to Bloom, who wore a matching Tamagotchi on the lapel of his deep purple tuxedo jacket. Need the pair say more?

Zoe Saldana and Marco Perego

Zoe Saldana and Marco Perego don't get out nearly as much since having twins. So, the married couple turned Monday night's Met Gala into a date night, sharing a steamy kiss on the red carpet in front of the paparazzi.

Beyonce Plus Solange Minus Jay Z

Two years ago, the most buzzed about moment of the 2014 Met Gala was the post-gala elevator dustup between Jay Z and his sister-in-law Solange Knowles with wife Beyonce finally stepping in between the two. The three released a collective statement saying they worked it through as a family, and the following year, Jay Z accompanied Beyonce to the Met Gala without incident.

But he sat this one out. Making her first red carpet appearance since the release of her new No. 1 album "Lemonade," Beyonce arrived solo. But there always to lend her support was sister Solange, who seemed to be sending a message of solidarity in her bright lemon yellow dress and matching leggings. The two sisters later stepped out together at Balmain's "After the Met Gala" celebration.

Beyonce and Rita Ora

Earlier in the evening, Beyonce shared a moment with Rita Ora, perhaps putting to rest all those rumors buzzing on the Beyhive about Ora being "Becky with the good hair," from Beyonce's "Sorry," the fourth track on "Lemonade. Ora snapped a selfie with Beyonce inside the gala and shared it via Snapchat, adding the word "Family" and a heart emoji.

Kimye

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West always make a splash at the Met Gala, but this year they arrived as the Met's Best Dressed Couple after making Vogue's Best Dressed list. Of course, West couldn't resist making a speech, even if it was on Twitter.
