— -- The Sleepy Hollow Cemetery is steeped in history and is intrinsically linked to one of the best known Halloween tales, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

In the story, written by Washington Irving, protagonist Ichabod Crane is chased towards the Old Dutch Burying Grounds by a Headless Horseman.

The cemetery's connection to the story doesn't stop there; Irving, himself, is buried on the grounds.

Industrialists Andrew Carnegie and William Rockefeller are both buried in the Sleepy Hollow cemetery, along with Brooke Astor and Harry and Leona Helmsley.

The cemetery is located in the heart of Westchester County, about 30 miles north of Manhattan, and has frequent tours that host tourists during the Halloween season.
