— -- Hello, I'm Scott Rauch, President and Psychiatrist and Chief of McLean Hospital. Founded in 1811, McLean Hospital is the principal psychiatric affiliate of Harvard Medical School and the main psychiatric hospital of Partners Healthcare System.

We have a longstanding tradition of excellence and innovation across our three-part mission which encompasses clinical care, research, and training. With regard to clinical care, we offer a full continuum of services to the full age range of patients -- from children to adults through to geriatric patients -- and again across the spectrum from inpatient care to residential to outpatient. We offer these services across multiple campuses, with our principal campus in Belmont, but with our services extending to southeastern Massachusetts and to central Massachusetts as well.

Our clinical programs include specialty services including units focused on eating disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, and obsessive compulsive disorders. With regard to research, it's really a tremendously exciting time today in psychiatry when advances in technology such as the advent of contemporary brain imaging as well as genetics promise great opportunities of discovery. In this context, McLean offers really unique resources that include a state of the art brain imaging center, the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center, and a transgenic mouse facility. With regard to training, we offer leading programs in terms of psychiatry residency and psychology internship as well as offerings for other healthcare professionals including social workers, nurses, and we're a main training site for Harvard Medical students.

In addition, we offer a full range of courses through continuing education, both at our site and beyond. We're very proud of our tradition of excellence at McLean and look forward to a future of pursuing our mission and easing the burden of illness to those who suffer from psychiatric disease.
