— -- Hillary Clinton has a massive cash advantage over Donald Trump heading into the final days of the general election, according to newly released documents from the Federal Election Commission.

From Oct. 1 through Oct. 19, Hillary Clinton raised $52.8 million and has over $62 million on hand.

In contrast, Trump’s campaign raised nearly $29 million during this period and has $16 million on hand, barely more than a quarter of what the Clinton campaign has available to spend.

This follows a recent trend. Over the past two presidential election cycles, Democrats have held a significant cash advantage over Republicans at this point in the race. Barack Obama had significantly more cash on hand than his Republican rivals John McCain in 2008 and Mitt Romney in 2012. But Romney and McCain both had more than Trump does at this stage, and the funding gulf between the Democratic and Republican nominees was not as wide at this point in the election as the current one between the Clinton and Trump campaigns.

The Democrats' cash advantage extends to joint funds available for down-ballot races. The Trump Victory Fund, the joint fundraising committee for Trump’s campaign, the Republican National Committee and state parties, raised $16 million during the October period and has $11 million in cash on hand.

The Hillary Victory Fund, the joint fundraising committee for Democrats, raised $70 million during this period, more than four times what the GOP fund brought in, and has $82 million cash on hand.

The Make America Great Committee, a joint fundraising committee for the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee, raised $36.5 million, and has nearly $36 million on hand. That committee does not include state parties. Even when adding up the total amounts of funds available through the two Republican funds, it comes to $47 million, which is $35 million less than the Democrats' joint fund.
