— -- While Article 2 of the U.S. Constitution outlines the duties of the president, the first lady's role is not as cut-and-dry.

But now that there's the prospect of a first gentleman occupying the White House for the first time, former President Bill Clinton could draw inspiration for his potential role from some of the women who've filled the spot next to the commander in chief.

Some, like Jackie Kennedy, were known for their style, and others, like Nancy Reagan and Michelle Obama, championed their own causes and initiatives beyond the work of their husbands.
