Bulls' Dwyane Wade apologizes for throat-slash gesture

— -- CHICAGO -- Dwyane Wade tweeted an apology Friday for making a throat-slash gesture at the end of Thursday's win over the Boston Celtics.

After making a game-clinching 3-pointer with 26.3 seconds left that gave the Bulls a lead they would not relinquish, Wade made the throat-slash gesture and admitted after the game that he "had an out-of-body experience." Since signing with the Bulls over the summer, Wade has spoken publicly many times about trying to cut down the violence within Chicago.

Wade did not address reporters after Friday's practice. Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg said that Wade didn't do much in the practice as the Bulls try to keep the 34-year-old veteran healthy for the long grind of the NBA season.

It was unclear whether Wade will be fined. The league offered no official comment.

Kevin Durant was fined $25,000 by the NBA in April 2013 for a throat-slash gesture in a Thunder victory at Golden State. Last March, Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart was fined $15,000 for an obscene gesture in which he "grabbed near his groin," after he was called for a technical foul.
