— -- Houston Rockets guard Patrick Beverley, after meeting with team doctor Walt Lowe on Saturday morning, has decided to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.

The surgery will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 25 in Houston, the team announced.

Following the procedure, Beverley will be re-evaluated by Lowe and Dr. Steven Flores in approximately three weeks.

After Friday's preseason loss to the San Antonio Spurs, Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni said Beverley would miss roughly 20 games.

Eric Gordon most likely will replace Beverley in the starting lineup.

Beverley played in just one preseason game before developing irritation in his left knee. The Rockets will start the season minus their best defensive player and one of their team leaders.
