— -- Computer maker Acer unveiled new Microsoft 10 devices today at its Windows 10 press event in Taipei, including the Aspire R 14, a convertible notebook, and the Aspire Z3-700, a portable PC with five hours of built-in battery life.

"We worked closely with Acer to help ensure their devices would make the most of Windows 10," Terry Myerson, executive vice president of devices at Microsoft, said at the event.

The latest offerings from Acer offer users a premium experience at a budget price, while still harnessing the power of Windows 10.

Here's a look at what you need to know.

Aspire R 14

Sticking with the industry trend of two-in-one devices, the Aspire R 14 is a laptop with a display that can fold over without gaps, turning it into a tablet. For an 18.5 mm thin device, it packs tremendous power with 6th generation Intel Core processors, along with 8 GB of RAM.

The device is also equipped with MU-MIMO wireless technology, letting users download videos and pictures at super fast speeds.

The Aspire R 14, which will start at $699, will be available in the United States later this month.

Aspire Z3-700

This all-in-one PC has a 17.3-inch screen and offers portability for moving around the house. The computer has a built-in battery that will last up to five hours, which is good for watching movies at home, but the short-battery life makes it less convenient for road trips. It will be available in Europe, the Middle East and African markets by the end of the year for around $681.

What Makes Windows 10 Different

Ten weeks after the software update, Microsoft said more than 110 million people have upgraded to Microsoft 10. The refresh includes Cortana integration, letting users talk to their computers to pull up files or search for information. Another standout feature is Continuum, which lets Windows 10 users seamlessly move between their PC and their smartphone.
