— -- It's safe to say Super Bowl Sunday was one of the busier nights for mobile payments app Venmo but we'll let you draw your own conclusions as to why.

After the Denver Broncos bested the Carolina Panthers to take home the Lombardi trophy, Venmo users reported difficulty sending money through the app. Venmo's team acknowledged the issues on Twitter, writing "Our payments are experiencing some slowness but we're working hard on a fix. Hang tight!#sb50"

The app was back to normal about two hours after the big game, according to status updates on Venmo's website. While the timing could of course be a big coincidence, some Twitter users had their theories as to why Venmo may have been overloaded.

Of course there are many other reasons for using Venmo too.
