LONDON Jan. 7, 2014— -- Jennifer Lauren, the niece of fashion designer Ralph Lauren, was arraigned today in an Irish pub on charges of being drunk, threatening and abusive after being arrested and thrown off a Delta Airlines flight from Barcelona to New York.

The plane made an unscheduled stop at Shannon Airport on the way to New York to drop Lauren off Monday after she was deemed so intoxicated that she represented a danger to herself and others.

Lauren, 41, was charged with being drunk and disorderly and abusive. She is scheduled to return to court Wednesday on the "air rage" charges.

The niece of the fashion guru had spent the night behind bars in a cell in the Shannon Police Station but was given $3,400 bail today and allowed to overnight in a Shannon hotel. She had to surrender her passport.

Court was convened in Lauren's case in the Brian Boru pub. Holding court in a bar is less odd than it may seem as District Courts in Ireland are often held in small rural locations so that local people have better access to proceedings and pubs are common venues.

Lauren, a jewelry designer based in New York, was dressed in black as she took the stand and gave the court her name and passport details.
