No invite to the Bud Light Hotel this upcoming Super Bowl weekend? While the most famous Super Bowl parties are strict invite-only or cost an arm and a leg -- Maxim's party costs a reported $1,150 for entry and ESPN's even more -- there are plenty of places to get in on the Super Bowl festivities, A-lister or not.
Free -- Celebrity Beach Bowl
On Saturday, Feb. 1, DirectTV's Celebrity Beach Bowl at Manhattan's Hudson River Park Pier 40 gets underway. The star-studded flag football game takes place on the "world's largest indoor beach," packed with more than a million pounds of sand.
NFL Hall of Famers scheduled to attend include Joe Montana, Deion Sanders and Warren Moon. Celebrities such as Adam Pally (The Mindy Project), Shay Mitchell (Pretty Little Liars), Scott Porter (Hart of Dixie), Meghan Markle (Suits), Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl) will also be on hand. The event is free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
$10 -- Meadowlands Tailgate Party 2014
It's so typical of New York to take over this major event, despite the fact that the big game is being played a state away in New Jersey. But those looking for a Jersey vibe can thank a stadium-area town for teaming up to provide a pre-game party that promises just that.
The Meadowlands Tailgate Party 2014 in East Rutherford is a family friendly event: Kids under 12 enter for free. The event has drawn big-name sponsors such as Anheuser-Busch, the Devils, Coca-Cola and Dunkin Donuts. Entertainment comes in the form of a Bruce Springsteen tribute band (of course), the BStreetBand. The party starts at 11 a.m.
You could pick any number of bars to watch the Super Bowl, but Slate's (54 W. 21st St.) organized event lets fans plan ahead and reserve table / bottle service so they're not stuck three-deep at the bar all night long. The cheapest ticket ($25) gets you admission to the pre-party, game viewing and after party. Pricing goes up from there and includes various levels and time periods of open bar. The most expensive ticket ($135) includes VIP table service, four hours of open bar, food buffet and more.
$35 - $85 -- The Court Hotel Super Bowl Viewing Party
The Court - A St. Giles Premier Hotel (130 E. 39th St.) is hosting a party at The Court's Icon Restaurant to watch the game with the Gotham City cheerleaders, the unofficial cheerleaders of the NY Giants. On Feb. 2, from 6 p.m. until the last touchdown, The Court is offering two-tiered packages from $35 to $85 per person. The $35 package includes admission to the party and standing hors d'oeuvres; the $85 package includes that plus open bar.
Football fans who purchase either package will receive a special hotel booking code which entitles them to a 20 percent discount on The Court's room rates. This special booking code is also applicable to The Court's adjacent sister property, The Tuscany, a St. Giles Luxury Hotel as well. For reservations, contact: (212) 726-9518.
On Jan. 31, the 15th annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration takes place at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. This is the only NFL gospel concert and includes musical acts such as Patti Labelle, Mary Mary, Natalie Grant and Donnie McClurkin. There will also be a performance by the NFL Players Choir. The event page promises active and retired NFL players and celebrity guests. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
