Virgin America Safety Video Wows with Singing, Dancing
New safety video joins trend of irreverent, colorful airline instruction.
Oct. 30, 2013— -- Buckle up, passengers. It's going to be a bumpin' flight.
That's the message delivered by a new pre-flight safety video Virgin America released Tuesday. Set entirely to music, the video's instructional information is communicated through singing, rapping and sweet dance moves.
"We knew how much our guests loved the fun and irreverence of our current video, but after six years we wanted to give them something unexpected, a fresh take on what a safety video could be," creative director Jesse McMillin said.
"Changing the game is what Virgin America is all about, and we hope our guests have as much fun boppin' their heads to the new video as we had making it."

Directed by Hollywood blockbuster film director Jon M. Chu ("G.I. Joe: Retaliation," "Step Up 2"), the video includes some of the best dancers, singers and choreographers from "American Idol" and "So You Think You Can Dance." It will begin airing on flights in November.
Virgin America fliers who like to cut a rug can vie for a chance to be in a second, 2014 version of the video by submitting their own freestyle moves via Instagram video and tagging them "#VXsafetydance" to be voted on.
The new Virgin America safety video is the latest in a string of humorous and entertaining releases by airlines, including a Betty White spoof on Air New Zealand and a holiday safety video for Delta Airlines featuring Alex Trebek.
