Transcript for 9 States Under Dangerous Flash Flood Watch Across US
We begin with dangerous flooding and in some places rescues already under way. At least nine states with flash flood watches coast to coast tonight. In newton, north carolina, look at this, the water suddenly rising above this family's home and this roadway washed away. A giant collapse under the rains. This, as we get new information tonight on the two tropical systems. We get to it all beginning with the flooding. And the pictures just now coming in. Here's abc's meteorologist ginger zee tonight. Reporter: Chest deep, rescuers pull people to safety. In western north carolina at least ten swift-water rescues already today. A state of emergency declared in catawba county. More than a foot of rain in less than 24 hours. Busting flood drains. It's bad. It came up fast. It's 9:00. It probably come up three foot. Reporter: From the drowning southeast to the wild southwest, that is albuquerque, new mexico, just yesterday. 90-mile-per-hour winds sliced through the typically tranquil town. People locked in from their flooded cars. And swapping streets near tucson, arizona. You're looking at the southeast closely tonight. Flash flooding warnings are now lifting. That's good news. The rain is not yet over for the east coast. More rain ahead for the areas in dark blue. Richmond, virginia. Tallahassee, florida. Even columbia and savannah. These two tropical systems. We can say good-bye to dorian on the east coast. Now just a tropical wave. Dead for the most part. Flossie is not dead. Upgraded overnight. The timing, david, goes over the big island monday into tuesday. We'll be watching for mudslides and heavy rains.
