Sept. 5, 2012— -- intro: Alanis Morissette is once again making it clear that she is head over feet for breastfeeding her nearly 2-year-old son, Ever, and has no plans to stop until he "is finished and weaned."

The "Jagged Little Pill" singer, who has released a new album, "Havoc and Bright Lights," about life as a wife, mother and alpha-woman, has been defending her stance on attachment parenting.

"I'm always available if he needs me, period. I love snuggling and sleeping next to him," Morissette told ABC News last week.

Asked about the controversy around attachment parenting, Morissette told the Associated Press, "What part of it is gross? ... "I think we're a severely undertouched society. Everyone thinks there's some kind of sexual impropriety going on when it's actually just connection and intimacy and nurturance."

Morissette, 38, who is married to rapper Mario "Souleye" Treadway, first raised eyebrows over the summer when she announced that she would breastfeed Ever, now 20 months, until he was ready to stop.

But she's not the first celebrity mom to cause a stir. Click through to read about other star moms and some of their eyebrow-raising child-rearing practices.

quicklist: 1title: Tori Spellingtext: Tori Spelling and her husband, Dean McDermott, stars of their own reality show, "Home Sweet Hollywood," have never been shy about sharing personal information. But Spelling's revelation over the summer that her husband finds her sexy when she is pregnant -- coupled with a photograph of her flaunting her fourth baby bump in a barely-there monokini -- may have been more than most people want to know -- or see.

Spelling was photographed at a family barbecue over Memorial Day weekend wearing the skimpy crocheted suit that barely covered her, ahem, assets. Papa-to-be McDermott, touching Spelling's belly in the picture, clearly approved. According to the UK's Daily Mail, Spelling recently said, "'I'm never as happy as when I'm pregnant. And Dean can't keep his hands off me! He's like, 'You're the sexiest pregnant woman.'"

Added the former "Beverly Hills 90210" actress, "I literally would have 10 babies if I could!"

quicklist: 2title: Jessica Simpsontext: Jessica Simpson only recently joined the ranks of celebrity moms after giving birth to her daughter, Maxwell Drew, but judging by her over-sharing during pregnancy, we're sure to hear plenty about her adventures in parenthood.

After all, this is the woman who gushed live on the air to Ryan Seacrest about her sex life -- saying, "I'm kind of unstoppable at the moment! Like the big 'O' is like the biggest 'O' ever" -- and told Jimmy Kimmel that because her belly was weighing so heavily on her "hoo-ha," it would be "like a fire hydrant" when her water broke.

"She was very vocal about her cravings during her pregnancy, she was tweeting photos of the cereal she was eating, so I don't think it would be surprising if she shared a funny story or two about being a new mom," People magazine reporter Lesley Messer told ABC News. She shared the first photos of her and baby Max with People magazine. media: 16459923

quicklist: 3title: Alicia Silverstonetext: "Clueless" actress Alicia Silverstone set a new mark for star moms when she revealed in March that she not only pre-chews the food for her infant son Bear Blu, but she feeds it to him -- from her own mouth. Silverstone wrote on her blog The Kind Life, "He literally crawls across the room to attack my mouth if I'm eating. This video was taken about a month or 2 ago when he was a bit wobbly. Now he is grabbing my mouth to get the food!" In the video Silverstone posted, the actress is seen taking a spoonful of food, chewing it, then passing it open-mouthed to her son.

It's not clear when she posted the video if she was being, well, clueless, about the reaction it would get. Even respondents on her site were divided. "I find this disgusting," one person wrote. Another defended Silverstone: I think you are a brave person by doing what's in your heart."media: 16022448

quicklist: 4category: title: Beyonceurl: text: Beyonce and Jay-Z don't do things like most of the world. So when Beyonce gave birth to their first child in early January, the couple reportedly paid $1.3 million to empty out an entire hospital floor. Days later, the new parents filed a petition to trademark their daughter Blue Ivy Carter's name, reportedly for a future line of baby carriages, baby cosmetics, diaper bags and accessories for fashion-forward infants. Blue Ivy is already proving to be as much of a fashionista as her mother. Recently, Beyonce carried her in gray faux-fur sling that could easily have been mistaken for a stole to match the singer's outfit. media: 16022212

Earlier this year, she and her mother left their New York apartment by helicopter, and both appeared to be sporting the same shade of red lipstick. But since her mother's divorce from Cruise, Suri has been more low-key, riding in taxi cabs instead of limos around her new home in New York City. Sightings of Suri these days are more likely to be on her bicycle, in the grocery store or at a children's museum. media: 16022222

quicklist: 6category: title: Gwyneth Paltrowurl: text: From the moment she named her daughter Apple, it was clear Gwyneth Paltrow was not going to follow convention. On her weekly advice newsletter/website GOOP and in her cookbook "My Father's Daughter," she waxes poetically about Apple, 8, and son Moses, 6. "Oh, how my heart leaps when I see them munching down kale with brown rice," she wrote in the cookbook about their favorite dish. Recently she revealed to Harper's Bazaar that they "all get into the tub together" whenever she's home, causing a minor stir on the internet.media: 16022200

quicklist: 7category: title: January Jonesurl: text: January Jones revealed how she was able to return to the "Mad Men" set just six weeks after giving birth to son Xander: by consuming the placenta she released at birth. "Your placenta gets dehydrated and made into vitamins," she explained to People magazine. "It's something I was very hesitant about, but we're the only mammals who don't ingest our own placentas." She added, "It's not witch-crafty or anything! I suggest it to all moms!" Though many cried "Ick" on the internet, it is commonplace to consume the afterbirth in some cultures. "There is certainly a potential medicinal use," Dr. David Katz, founder of the Yale Prevention Center, said of placentas last year. "It is nutrient-rich and a source of hormones."media: 16022322

quicklist: 8category: title: Angelina Jolieurl: text: Angelina Jolie has to be one of the world's most scrutinized moms, whether she's traveling the world with her brood of six, allowing her daughter Shiloh to dress as a boy, or selling photos of her babies and donating the proceeds to charity. Still, eyebrows were raised last year when reports circulated online that Jolie and partner Brad Pitt spend $10 million a year on their children, half of which goes to private jets. Doing the math, Forbes.com found that the couple made about $40 million a year, spending 25 percent of their income on their kids. It's worth nothing that the power couple's spending on their children is in keeping with most Americans, who make and spend a whole lot less.media: 16022334
