— -- Well, that escalated quickly.

In the January issue of Rhapsody magazine, prolific actor Samuel L. Jackson spoke about golfing with Donald Trump. The "Hateful Eight" star said the two weren't "buddies" or "friends," but that they had played together.

When asked who was the better golfer, the "Pulp Fiction" star said, "Oh, I am, for sure. I don't cheat."

That's all the ammunition Trump needed. The Republican presidential candidate fired back on Twitter on Tuesday, writing, "I don’t know @SamuelLJackson, to best of my knowledge haven't played golf w/him & think he does too many TV commercials—boring. Not a fan."

Jackson, 67, confirmed he knew Trump during an interview earlier in the week with ABC News' "Popcorn With Peter Travers," saying, "I have golfed with Trump a few times." But he added that the candidate does not have his vote.

"Blackish" star Anthony Anderson responded to Trump, saying he was with the pair when they played, writing, "C'mon @realDonaldTrump you played Golf with @SamuelLJackson and me as well. we also had lunch together! shrimp and hot dogs. sound familiar?"

But Trump, 69, isn't budging, and even fired back at what Jackson originally said about him cheating.

"I don’t cheat at golf but @SamuelLJackson cheats—with his game he has no choice—and stop doing commercials!" he added today, followed by, "Don’t like @SamuelLJackson’s golf swing. Not athletic. I’ve won many club championships. Play him for charity!"
