— -- Val Kilmer is undergoing tests for a possible tumor, his rep said today.

The 55-year-old actor was undergoing treatment at Los Angeles Hospital. His two children are caring for him, his rep said.

The actor posted to Facebook today, saying he "had a complication" and was admitted into the intensive care unit.

Kilmer, 55, had been hard at work lately, shooting "Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn," which is due out in April, and another film, directed by Terrence Malick and co-starring Christian Bale, Michael Fassbender and Natalie Portman.

He was also preparing to direct and star in a movie about Mark Twain, "Mark Twain and Mary Baker Eddy," which prompted him to drop a significant amount of weight.

"I'm preparing as most of you know, for my dream role, Mark Twain in a film I've written and will direct about his obsession with Mary Baker Eddy. Mark Twain was a thin man, and finally after the usual amount of effort, I'm thin again too," he wrote on Facebook this past December. "Perfect health."
