— -- The widow of former New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith -- who was shot and killed April 9 in New Orleans following an apparent road rage incident -- accepted his graduate degree posthumously from the University of Miami during a graduation ceremony Thursday.

The Saints tweeted a photo of Racquel Smith, sitting in a wheelchair -- still on the mend from being shot twice in the legs -- smiling as she held the degree.

Smith, who was 34 when he died, was studying at the University of Miami's Executive MBA program for artists and athletes.

In a video, the crowd can be heard clapping and cheering as an announcer says that Racquel is accepting the award on behalf of her husband. The Saints tweeted the video, writing "Racquel is so strong! Thank you to the @univmiami for the support of Will Smith and his family."
